As of Jan. 19, 2025, this is the information we have about this car:
[Jun.01.2015] The car appeared again for sale on Ron Susser's web site. The listing stated the following: 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham Jamaican Green with Vanities #177. I am pleased to offer this very rare 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham. Car is #177 and features code #132 Jamaican green exterior, only 11 Brougham were painted this color in 1957. This car also features a custom 2 tone green painted coves treatment. Interior is trim code 6581 which is medium green leather with white leather and Karakul carpeting (only 6 with that trim code in 1957). This car has only been driven 27,314 miles (there is apparently a discrepancy between the 31,009 miles recorded on the title and the current mileage on the odometer) since new. VIN # is 5770107176. Some History: The car was bought from a collector in Arizona who bought it as part of a 3 brougham purchase from Jim Street. He bought the cars back in the early sixties and he did the two tone paint job and then drove them sparingly over the early years and much less in the later ones hence the low miles of 27,314 on the car. He was a well known car customizer back in the day and there are YouTube videos of him highlighting his unique creations. The collector in AZ wanted to keep only one and sold the other two. The car is largely original with all the vanities except the atomizer. Body has paint from the sixties so it is tough but is solid and rust free. The air suspension is there but needs new bags and most likely some other fixes. The car runs and drives but needs brakes and a fresh gas tank to make it more usable. Additional Information: Carb and air cleaner set up is a single quad setup from a 1959 Cadillac (I believe, not 100% sure). The ’57 dual quad set up with batwing air cleaner are not included. All in all, car is very solid and basically original with most vanities. Obviously, it would make a great starting point for a restoration or with some maintenance and repairs, can be a very cool weekend driver. There are flaws as noted above but these are getting more and more tough to find especially with original vanities. Chrome is very good (that’s important), roof is excellent, interior is original and excellent, glass is very good etc. If you’re tired of the black and white Broughams (as I am), this is a great and unusually colored Brougham. The two tone treatment is not original but you must admit that it looks very cool. Ron Susser provided a complete set of pictures showing the interior, engine, body numbers, vanities, paint flaws and underside. These pictures (copyright Ron Susser) are included in the gallery herewith in the "Mid 2015" folder.
[Dec.01.2014] Brougham enthusiast Javier Pesquera and John Stott spotted this car on eBay (eBay ID azblink). It was not listed in the Brougham registry before and its whereabouts were unknown. The starting price for the car was $55,000. The eBay listing ended on January 3, 2015 with no bids. The listing stated the following: 1957 Eldorado Brougham, ORIGINAL AIR SUSPENSION! color keyed VANITIES! Still on original air suspension (not working) car has been stored for 40 years with a 4 Brougham collection. Car does run off a gas can and will drive...but gas in tank is bad as well as pump among other known and unknown issues. Title lists miles as 31,009 actual, VIN #5770107176, Trim code 6581. Paint has cracks and is peeling. VEHICLE HAS NO functioning BRAKES! Cooling system needs attention, water pump leaks. Original issue OEM GM fan belts were on the car AND SAVED for historical purpose! This Brougham is SOLID and STILL has its ORIGINAL exhaust system to include resonators (VERY RARE) and mufflers, all SOLID! Shocks are the original issue spiral design. VERY nice original windshield! Original color keyed (green) vanity case is complete and also loaded with 1950's KENT brand cigarettes with Micronite filters! Original white leather beveled mirror, original ARPEGE perfume with box. Original cross mechanical pencil. Clear acrylic shot glass case and cigarette case are high quality BROUGHAM reproductions by Mastermind. Significantly more (150+) images (including under side on a lift) and video's are available please ring (602) 254-6768 for added information! Some pictures and two videos were provided with the listing and are available in the gallery herewith. One of the videos shows the car being started and running. The second video shows the power trunk in operation. Higher Resolution images are also available here.
[1964] The car belonged to Dan Howe of Ohio. It was later transferred to Ted Stapleton of Dayton.
