Car Engine #700045

As of Oct. 15, 2024, this is the information we have about this car:

[Jul.23.2024] Cadillac Convertible Coupe 1930, Style 4235, Body 45, Chassi 7-2717

The car was found and bought by William Meffert in the sixties. Over some 10 years Willy collected parts and worked on the car. In the early seventies the car was sold to Robert (Bob) McGinnis, San Diego CA. During the seventies and eighties Bob and Willy worked together, Bob on 4235 #45 and Willy on 4235 #59. Kenneth Ohrn has all the correspondence between them over the years.

In a letter dated Feb 28, 1975, Bob tells Roy Schneider of him working on the 4235 #45 engine no. 702573. In the early nineties Penn Lenson became involved helping Bob to restore a V16 Roadster, engine no. 702137, which was later sold by the McGinnis family to Jim Staley, Norwich, New York. For work done, Penn became the owner of 4235 #45.

In the early 2000s Penn sold the car to William Heldman, Buena Park, CA, with Howard Berkowitz acting as agent and future restorer. During the ownership of William Heldman the original engine 702573 was exchanged to engine 701022, but accessories from 702573 like generator, starter, water pump, carburetors and so on were still used and sits on the car today.

In July 2014 Kenneth Ohrn bought the car with Peter Krell, Dallas TX, acting as his agent. The car is now restored to concourse condition, in Sweden, by himself and Autocraft which is Hans Emeren's ex business. They attended 5 car shows in Sweden and Finland in 2023 where we got all first prices. At Solliden, the car show, the King of Sweden, Carl XVI Gustaf's summer home they got best in show from the King himself.
