Oldsmobile Toronado, these come in all shapes and sizes and may require a page all to themselves

C C C, FRANCE
(Georges Pont)

t67ccc.jpg (9862 bytes)
I was not sure of the scale of this toy by Georges Pont of Rouen, France.  From the detail
[not visible in this small, low resolution image] it looked like it could have been based on a
Jo-Han plastic promotional or kit car [photo: Rétroviseur magazine, February 2002].
The answer was supplied kindly by Luke Sanz; he wrote:  This is a 1:43 scale resin and
white metal model of a 1968 Cadillac
Eldorado by CCC of France. They were manufactured
in the nineties and sold in kit form or fully assembled by the factory

VF MODELLEN, GERMANY

[ click here for full details and prices ]

IMPORTANT NOTE: these true-to-scale model cars are built and assembled with the utmost patience and care;
production numbers are VERY limited (from 12 to a maximum of 250 units of each) it is quite possiblethat some
models illustrated may no longer be available and cannot be re-issued; in making up these RARE models, many
photo-etched, chrome-plated or black-plated parts are used, as are also the finest decals; carpets also are depicted

BANDAI, JAPAN

t67baold.jpg (9084 bytes)
This is the first of the Japanese tinplate models of the 1967-68 Cadillac DeVille convertible;
made  by Bandai in the late sixties it was a nice lithographed toy; unfortunately, it was
subsequently copied  to the point of nausea in both Japan and Korea; without any
doubt, we shall soon be seeing even worse copies emanating
from China; talk about flogging a dead horse!

t68ja2.jpg (6278 bytes)     t68ja1.jpg (5771 bytes)

SCHUCO, GERMANY

t67schco.JPG (14863 bytes)     tschubox.jpg (4444 bytes)

Tsch68a.jpg (6461 bytes)     Tsch68b.jpg (5827 bytes)
Schuco of W. Germany made this interesting, battery-operated model of the 1968 De Ville
convertible, Ref. #5504;  three colored, illuminated plastic buttons form a console between the
front bucket seats; when depressed, they set the car in motion either forwards, in
reverse or back to neutral; the Japanese and then the S. Korean toy makers created millions
of  lookalike lithographed tinplate versions, many with ugly black, plastic bucket seats and
various levers and knobs controlling the movement of the car

t68sch2.jpg (6417 bytes)     Tcoll3.jpg (6332 bytes)

BANDAI, JAPAN

T68basd1.jpg (9414 bytes)

T68basd2.jpg (6980 bytes)
At the same time as Bandai issued the electric convertible, below, it also issued this 4-door
Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham; subsequently, using the same basic molds,
a number of convertibles followed, all featuring four doors; the molds were then sold
to South Korea  (and probably by now to China) who proceeded to flood the toy market
with lookalike, battery-operated convertibles of a lesser quality

  To67bab.jpg (12786 bytes)
This Japanese tinplate model of an imaginary 4-door convertible was made by Bandai;
it was a popular toy and was re-issued several times, both in Japan and Korea;
this is as second issue with plastic custom wheels

To67baa.jpg (6908 bytes)     To67bac.jpg (7908 bytes)
 This is the the second edition by Bandai, Japan, of the electric toy shown above;
although the box depicts a 2-door convertible, the actual toy is this imaginary 4-door
version with ugly black plastic bucket seats;  not easy to see in this small, low resolution  digital image
are two red switches on the instrument panel, controlling the headlights and the "ignition", as well as the
gear-shift lever located between the front seats; by depressing the steering wheel, the horn will blow
