MATTEL, USA

T57elbi.jpg (18339 bytes)
Eldorado Biarritz convertible from Hot Wheels; another Cadillac model that
has been churned out in miniature by the hundreds of thousands, and in different scales!

Here is another view of that diecast toy;
these are described as the Hard Rock Cafe promotional

Here is another toy depicting the same car
but, I guess, in a slightly larger scale

TROY LEE, [Far East?]

[ no image ]

From the Troy Lee,  2-car set, this toy may become hard to find
owing to its limited ptropduction ton of  10,000 units;
has excellent  paint and pinstriping and rides on rubber-type tires

VF MODELLEN, GERMANY
[ click here for full details and prices ]

IMPORTANT NOTE: these true-to-scale model cars are built and assembled with the utmost patience and care;
production numbers are VERY limited (from 12 to a maximum of 250 units of each) it is quite possiblethat some
models illustrated may no longer be available and cannot be re-issued; in making up these RARE models, many
photo-etched, chrome-plated or black-plated parts are used, as are also the finest decals; carpets also are depicted

These limited edition resin kits by Tom Mills of Oklahoma City (TKM Models)

the 1957 Eldorado Seville coupe built up and painted, and the
Biarritz convertible still waiting to be assembled and painted

T57ArtToy.jpg (46874 bytes)
This could pass as a toy or an art object
It's from Steelman24.co.uk and costs £80; it  is described in their catalog as
"The Cadillac – a classic symbol of the American dream, which captivates not just collectors of the old-timers"

1957-58 Eldorado Brougham

t57brgComic.jpg (34715 bytes)

(Left): This cute, glass replica, advertising spark plugs,   depicts an unlikely

BROOKLIN, UK
Brooklin Models is one of the world's leading manufacturers of 1:43 scale, collectible white metal model
automobiles and trucks. Dollar for dollar, Brooklin is the best value in white-metal models.

T57wmbrg.jpg (6292 bytes)    t57bkltd.jpg (6764 bytes)
From Brooklin Models in England come these fine replicas of the bespoke
1957/58 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham; on the right is catalog #27, limited to 750 pieces

T57brka2.jpg (6190 bytes)    T57brka1.jpg (5381 bytes)

Luke Sanz added: This is a 1:43 scale white metal model of a 1957 Cadillac
Eldorado Brougham by Brooklin Models (BRK 27A). The "A" designates
that it is a revised and updated version of the earlier BRK 27
.
Luke added this better photo of the revised Brooklin model:

BAM (Bruce Arnold) Models, USA

This is an excellent miniature replica of  1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham #548 that was modified
by the Derham Coach Corporation for a member of the  J.D. Rockefeller family;
it is fitted with the Derham-style
(small) backlight and a beige canvas top in lieu of the signature stainless steel roof of standard Broughams models;
[Note: Derham modified at least two Broughams like this; one of them survived and is currently (2010) located in Sweden.

Renowned Belgian illustrator/cartooinst, Georges Rémi, aka "Hergé" (or the initials "RG" in French) is best known for his comic strip books
depicting the adventures of a young Belgian reporter and his dog "Snowy" ("Milou" in French) - you may read about his books here;

"Hergé" was known for correctly depicting cars of all makes, in this instance the Cadillac Eldorado Brougham of 1957-58

DEPARTMENT 56, USA

Tbrgjnk.jpg (6707 bytes)
Brougham enthusiast and friend, Jerry Jansson of Sweden, tipped me off
to this "toy" in the catalog of a company called Department 56. Introduced

Novemver 2003, it is item #56.55536, measures 5¼ x 2¾ x 1½" and retails for $28.
As Jerry says, it looks like it could be made of plaster and marshmallow !

FRANKLIN MINT, USA

Tfm57br2.JPG (8198 bytes)
The first scale-model (kit) of the 1957/58 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham
was issued by Revell, USA.  This one is from the Franklin Mint, circa 1999;

it is highly detailed and, consequently, very expensive

t57BRG-fmint2.jpg (25867 bytes)     t57BRG-fmint.jpg (32331 bytes)

TBRGBAHA.JPG (7389 bytes)     Tbrg01.jpg (5690 bytes)     Tbrg02.jpg (7854 bytes)

Tbrg03.jpg (11958 bytes)    Tbrg04.jpg (9237 bytes)
The Franklin Mint replica comes only in black; that fact has inspired Bob Jernigan,  a keen enthusiast,
to create his own,  personal series, based on actual cars in rare color combinations;
here we see work in progress on
car #350 of which only a single one was painted Bahama Blue
[ interiors, of course, will be color coordinated also to match the original cars ]

tbrg04.jpg (17275 bytes)     tbrg13.jpg (15277 bytes)     tbrg05.jpg (14392 bytes)

tbrg11.jpg (10539 bytes)     tbrg01.jpg (11441 bytes)     tbrg06.jpg (13925 bytes)      tbrg10.jpg (10026 bytes)

tbrg08.jpg (13356 bytes)     tbrg02.jpg (16198 bytes)     tbrg07.jpg (9928 bytes)
This second unit is believed to depict car #278 of the 1957 production run; it is the only one painted Castille Maroon with  a beige interior

REVELL, USA

brtoy57.JPG (42621 bytes)     t57brg2.JPG (7379 bytes)
This is the first scale-model (kit) of the 1957/58 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham issued
by Revell, USA, in 1/24 scale; it was re-issued in the late eighties; on the right
is a factory promotional built-up kit of the Revell replica, complete with the two scale figurines

t57ebrev.jpg (6081 bytes)     Trv57br.JPG (6340 bytes)
This one is from the author's former collection

brtoytc.JPG (32478 bytes)

Trv56tc.JPG (6395 bytes)     t56ebtc.jpg (6485 bytes)
From the author's former collection too comes this conversion of the stock, Revell Eldorado Brougham kit
into the unique, 1956 Eldorado Brougham Town Car that toured the Motorama circuit that year;
showing off the true scale of the toy (left) is a one-ounce atomizer bottle of Arpege perfume extract from Lanvin,
Paris; this accessory was standard equipment with each of the 704 Eldorado Brougham models built in 1957/58

t57brgSunStar.jpg (51364 bytes)
A very nice replica of this exceptional car

Tebsnstr.jpg (9002 bytes)     t58BrgEng.jpg (11909 bytes)
Excellent miniature replica of the Eldorado Brougham in the American Classic series from Sun Star;
the toy has opening front and rear doors (which are the 'suicide' style); the hood and trunk also open
(not sure that the detailed V8 engine, right, is from this model)

These photos were taken with a wide-angle lens; in reality the car
is more stubby and appears too wide but it is still a fine replica

LESNEY MATCHBOK, UK

T58mbmn2.jpg (10015 bytes)     T58mb27.jpg (6036 bytes)
Popular  scale model of the 1958 Cadillac Series 60 Special sedan by Matchbox Toys (UK), #27.  The long, aluminum
panel that stretches from the rear bumper to the rear door could do with being painted silver for added realism

t58mbgrn.jpg (4479 bytes)     t58mbgr2.jpg (5641 bytes)

t58mbx.jpg (6658 bytes)     T58mbx1.jpg (10664 bytes)
Much rarer is this version of the same toy, in metallic light green (above two rows)
(notice the difference in labeling of  the two boxes: one reads "Matchbox", the other "Moko")

MEV ORIGINALS (ORIGIN ?)

tjet58.jpg (8720 bytes)     tjet58b.jpg (4722 bytes)

tjet58c.jpg (9852 bytes)
HO Scale 1958 Cadillac hearse by MEV Originals; these are said to be the "Coolest" T-Jets on the block

T.N. NOMURA, JAPAN

t58tinbd.jpg (6556 bytes)     T58unfrt.jpg (4032 bytes)
Of all the Japanese tin Cadillac toys I have seen, this one from TN has got
to be the worst; the front clip is a mix of 1957 (the grille design) and 1958
(hood emblem and  quad lights); from the side it looks like a Ford Fairlane

CONQUEST, HOLLAND

JPS, USA

T58unsd.jpg (5031 bytes)     T58uncv.jpg (4022 bytes)
These bodies too are from  JPS (USA), circa 1990 These are resin kits in 1/43 scale and the bodies are
already painted. They come complete with bumpers and interior (not just the bodies).   Previously,

the same molds were used by Record (a small firm from Aix-en-Provence, France) also for kits, but unpainted.
The quality of the  cast is quite high.
Available were the following versions: Eldorado Convertible, Eldorado Seville, Fleetwood 60
Special
, Sedan de Ville, Coupe de Ville and Series 62 Convertible, all from 1958

t58_75.jpg (7841 bytes)

or "Motor City" ...or even a third manufacturer

RECORD/MRF/JPS/PROVENCE MOULAGE, FRANCE/USA

In 1991 Record of France joined forces with M.R.F. to produce a line of 1958 Cadillac models in both kit and factory-built form. The line included every 1958 production model with the exception of the limousine. Discerning collectors still recognize these models as the most accurate renditions in true 1:43 scale [according to the model-maker, the 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75 Limousine by Conquest Models (above) and which was later copied by Motor City USA for both their USA Models and Sunset Coach lines, are grossly overscale].

This is the rarest and most sought-after of the Record models, made or resin and white metal. Refinished in the factory-correct "Alpine White" over "Regent Green Metallic", this example has been dramatically improved. Detailing by John Arnold includes: corrected windshield frame width, addition of drip-rail, exterior and interior trim carefully finished with chrome foil (NOT silver paint), separate headlight lenses, windshield wipers and rear view mirrors, period-correct Cadillac crest, "V" emblem, speedometer, clock and license plate decals, 60 Special unique chrome "air outlet" vents recreated on top of the fenders, grille, detailed rear bumper and taillights, interior re-finished in two-tone green and tan, original steering wheel replaced with accurate unit, shifter added to column, blackwall tires upgraded to period-correct whitewalls made by Bruce Arnold Models (BAM).

superbly detailed models that were subsequently issued every year for the next more than twenty years;
the earliest ones (1958 through 1962) tend to suffer from plastic warpage; considering the fine condition of the two

From Road Legends again comes this unlikely
1958 Cadillac Eldorado Seville police pursuit  car

t58anpo1.jpg (7749 bytes)     t58anpo2.jpg (8458 bytes)
This equally imaginary 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Seville police car closely resembles the Anson
equivalent (above it); the brand name on the box is Westminster, SKU # H778; it retails for $65

UNKNOWN ARTISANS, PHILIPPINES

T5860SWO.JPG (6958 bytes)
Here's a very realistic 14" replica of the 1958 Series Sixty Special
honed out of wood by obviously skilled wood carvers in the Philippines
[ the model was commissioned by my Swiss friend Jean-Michel Roux ]

UNKNOWN, USA (???)

T58pedal.jpg (7064 bytes)
Offered for sale on Ebay in May 2008, I'm guessing this is a recent molding
intended for someone who could be interested in building a kiddie's pedal car
